Job seekers in Whitman County have a valuable resource to assist with resumes, computer skills, online applications, or career research and employment opportunities. This enhanced service connects people to career resources.
Thanks to a Renew Washington Grant called Whitman County Library Occupation Resource Connections, or WORC, this grant of $48,160 is administered by the Washington State Library and funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Erica Willson, Whitman County Library Outreach Services Coordinator, is certified in Career and Technical Education. She is the WORC Program Coordinator overseeing the eight month project. Andrée Marcus, MSW, is serving as the Outreach Educator, a temporary grant funded position. Andrée and Erica will provide the skill-building workshops, teaching online database usage and providing valuable customer support.
Whitman County Library is now offering workshops, resources and programs countywide is addressing the growing needs of job seekers. Look for information in your local paper or on the library events calendar.
In addition to the countywide workshops, a WORC website has been developed for job seekers to explore a wide range of employment and community resources in one place. The program also brings WOIS and Bridges, valuable online occupational information services to all residents.
Collaborative partners like WorkSource, Community Action and the Whitman County Health Department will also participate by offering program information and regional sessions as part of the WORC project.

It is the policy of Whitman County Rural Library District to make Internet resources available to its customers, together with its collection of library materials, access to licensed electronic resources, and access to electronic databases, as a means of providing information in support of its mission.
The District offers materials and information in a variety of formats and media, with selection guided by its Collection Development Policy. Its goal in providing Internet resources is to enhance its collection in size and depth with information that may not be otherwise available or as up-to-date.
