Friends of Whitman County Library
Meeting Minutes
March 06, 2018
 

In attendance: Sue Hallett, Velma Ulrich, Peggy Kehne, Gail Webster, Nichole Kopp, Shirley Cornelius, Cheryl Jones, Mikki Tague, Polly Anderson, Debi Hergert

The meeting was called to order by President Sue Hallett at 11:00 a.m. The February minutes were read and approved.

Shirley presented the treasurerís update. Highlights included $9,285.00 in due renewals, a $4,000.00 down payment for the second half of the roof and $350.00 deposited to the Acorn fund.

Old Business

The levy election has been certified with a little over 74%.

Sue presented date options for the Spring Road Trip to Albion, Colton and Uniontown. May 9th was selected for the trip with more details to follow.

New Business

The March Supporter of the Month will be from either LaCrosse or Palouse.

In Branch reports, Marcy Campbell will resign the Malden Branch manager position. Farmington presently has a substitute, while Rita Ackerman recovers from her surgery.

Youth services continue with K.S. Brooks visits, 6th grade tech center field trip for Coding Camp #3, and in May Eric Herman will be providing a program on anti-bullying in up to 10 locations as a kick-off for the summer reading program.

Sue shared that a donation of ukuleles are available for check out to use for Scott Hallettís class. Also, ACT 2 classes are offering WW1 Comes to the Palouse with Richard Sola in April.

WCL received many memorials in honor of Edie Ray, longtime employee and volunteer. She will be honored on May 24th so Kristie asked members to consider attending and/or assisting to plan the event.

Picnic in Style will be held on March 15th with the proceeds benefiting childrenís Tech programs.

Kristie highlighted other upcoming events including the various yoga classes and the Memorial Wall presentation, which will be held at the Methodist Church on March 15th.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:30 a.m.

Nichole then presented a coding workshop using Ozobots which was enjoyed by all.
