Friends of Whitman County Library
Meeting Minutes
February 06, 2018

In attendance: Shirley Cornelius, Sue Hallett, Gail Webster, Wanda Alderman, Polly Anderson, Becky Lawhead, Kristie Kirkpatrick, Nichole Kopp, Sheri Miller

The meeting was called to order by Sue Hallet at 11:00 a.m. In Debiís absence, Shirley read the January minutes and they were approved as read.

Becky read a nice note from Polly thanking the Friends for the flowers honoring her husband Butch.

Shirley gave an abbreviated treasurerís update. Barn calendars have nearly sold out with almost $2000 in sales. The annual membership renewal has garnered $6451 in dues and donations so far. Many of the donations were memorials to friends and loved ones, which Shirley read aloud.

Old Business

Related to the Levy Election, Kristie complimented the wonderful letters of support from local residents and the great radio coverage. Small issues have included a small typo in the Friendsí levy materials (.50 cents versus 50 cents) and that postcards mailed to Colton, Uniontown and Rosalia confused residents in those communities as they donít actually vote on the library levy.

New Business

Sue asked if anyone wanted to participate in a spring library tour to Albion, Colton and Uniontown. Many expressed an interest and Kristie will report back to possible days and times.

Nichole spoke about pending technology grant applications and a recent private donation.

Supporter of the month for February will come from the Albion Branch.

Marcy Campbell, Malden and Rosalia Branch manager is having some health issues. The Friends will sign a card for her.

Youth services Dept. has a lot going on with author visits by K.S. Brooks, Read All Day in the schools, Tek Center Field Trips and more. Friends assisted in cutting out Bears for a program.

Kristie spoke about upcoming events including 2 day scrapbooking workshop.

Sarah Phelan joined the meeting to encourage members to take part in upcoming Trivia contests, Blind Date with a Book (where she thanked Top Notch for their donation) and to make sure everyone is receiving the Library Link newsletter.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:30 a.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Kristie Kirkpatrick
