Colfax Thrifty Grandmothers donation benefits The Center at Colfax Library

The Bettie Steiger Community Enrichment Center came one step closer to completion today when The Colfax Thrifty Grandmothers presented a check for $5000 to Whitman County Library staffers Catalina Flores and Shirley Cornelius. Thanks to the Grandmothers only $2000 is needed to reach the $33,334 match that is required to access the Whitman County .09 Economic Development grant the project received last week. That grant of $100,000 combined with these matching funds will allow the Center to complete restrooms, a technology center, safer back entrance, signage and a variety of finish work. The Center’s purchase and all renovation has been accomplished through grants, donations and volunteers.
