WCL Celebrates National Library Card Sign Up Month in September

September is Library Card sign-up month. Win a $25 gift certificate.

Libraries are incredible! The Incredibles are joining libraries nationwide to encourage the public to obtain a free library card as Honorary Chairs of September’s Library Card Sign-up Month. Today’s libraries are about more than books. They are creative, educational, thriving technology hubs that provide space for learners from birth and beyond. Join the Whitman County Rural Library System along with the American Library Association to make sure that every student has the most import school supply of all – a free library card. As a special incentive, the Friends of Whitman County Library offers a drawing for a $25 gift certificate for those signing up for a new card during September.

Society is changing in the way it consumes information. Libraries are evolving with these changes to serve the public and to continue to fulfill roles in leveling the playing field for all who seek information and access to technologies. Libraries provide important resources to families whose children are at the earliest stages of development. You are never too old or too young to have a library card. Bring your babies and kids to Storytime at your library. Storytime offers parents and caregivers the components of early literacy and the basic tools for a child’s school readiness. Older students can access high-speed Internet, digital tools and the opportunity to work with trained professionals on how to use them. The development of hands-on opportunities for children and teens using toys and kits to incorporate high-tech tools benefits them today and in the future.

Get a library card and check out something incredible! Resources at the library are available for checkout to anyone with a Whitman County Library card. All ages can turn to the library for materials, programs and knowledgeable library staff that support life-long learning. There’s really something for everyone, and it’s all free with a library card.
