Lighting up downtown Colfax this winter is the colorful Festival of Trees and Art beginning on Friday, December 1 at The Center at Colfax Library. Two rooms full of beautifully decorated trees provide a scenic backdrop for stunning artwork and photography, on display throughout the month of December.

The themed trees run the gamut from traditional to zany; sentimental to Star Wars. Visitors are encouraged to vote for their favorites including a special category just for kids. Tickets are also available for a movie themed tree donated by Pioneer Title Company of Pullman with proceeds funding a new roof for The Center.

Artists exhibiting their art and photography include Vickie Broeckel, Ken Carper, Greg Kessler, Bob Krikac, Nancy Rothwell, Rob Smith, Henry Stinson and Carrie Vielle. All sales of artwork also benefit The Center roof project. While the Festival of Trees and Art runs through the entire month of December, winners of the Tree decorating contest and the raffle tree will be announced at 7 p.m. during a community reception and open house on Wednesday, December 20 from 5-8 p.m.

Festival of Trees and Art hours are Mondays-Wednesdays, 10 a.m. - 8 p.m., Thursdays-Fridays 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Saturdays Sundays, 1 5 p.m.
