Kristie noted that Klaveano's sent a letter of support to NW Farm Credit Services and thanked them for their support. The Bank of America application was recently submitted. She is working on the application to Inland Northwest Foundation, noting that a member of their board recently donated to our building fund and encouraged us to apply.

NEW BUSINESS: Peggy presented an updated list of the Friends of the Library and the Renovation Donor List, noting several new members.

The library supporter for the months of June and July were Shirley Morasch and Ruth Dorman. Shirley was presented with the award during the tour of the Endicott Branch Library. Kristie thanked Shirley for her long time support of the library as a past employee and for her contributions to the Endicott Branch recently. Ruth Dorman was presented with the award at her home in LaCrosse before the board meeting. Kristie thanked Ruth for her support of the library. She noted her donations of books and the LaCrosse Cemetery List, her love of children and community involvement.

Kristie reported on the Washington Library Director's meeting, who meet twice a year. Nancy Pearl was a presenter that inspired the Director's to seek staff training cooperatively. A discussion on green buildings and landscaping was very informative. Library standards among libraries were discussed and some directors encouraged the group to proceed, setting performance benchmarks for which libraries could strive. The Early Learning Public Library Partnership was also discussed. Washington State is leading the way nationally in this cooperative effort among libraries and Kristie reported that good progress is being made, including a meeting with potential funding agencies including Boeing, Gates Foundation and others.

Leslee discussed the Uniontown City Council meeting that took place regarding the relocation of the Library within the building. Many community members attended. The City Council decided to do a space analysis before making any decision. The council also discussed seeking grants to obtain a proper solution.

Kristie reported that the November ballot will include the Town of Garfield annexation to the library district. An information sheet was passed out that will be distributed to Garfield residents.

Kristie discussed the issues facing the Town of Malden paying for library service. They are fundraising this year, hoping to raise money for library service for 2009. Malden is exploring options to annex to the library district in the future.

Kristie expressed her appreciation to Clancy for all of her efforts with the new St. John Library building. She asked the board to sign a letter of commendation.

Kristie noted the library website improvements and thanked Don for his efforts. The photography at the top of the page is by artist Jerry McCullum from Palouse. His goal is to spread appreciation of art throughout the community. He is generously displaying some of his photography at the Colfax Branch too.

There will no meeting on August, as per policy. The next meeting will be Tuesday, September 16th at 4 p.m. in Colfax. The 2009 Budget will be on the agenda.
