Clancy Pool, manager of the St. John Branch of Whitman County Library, received the Merit Award for Outstanding Performance at last week's Washington Library Association awards luncheon at the Spokane Red Lion Hotel. Pool was recognized for outstanding improvements to library service within her community, including innovative programs, outreach services for children and seniors, and advocating for a new, larger library. Pool also serves as the Whitman County Library's branch coordinator, overseeing operations in thirteen branch locations.

Upon receiving her award from State Librarian Jan Walsh, Pool praised the support from the town's residents, saying, St. John is a very special town and I can't accept this award without first thanking my community.

The Washington Library Association awards luncheon is an annual event where librarians, trustees, and library supporters from across the state are recognized for their outstanding contributions to libraries, communities and the profession.
